Show FATHER SULLIVAN ' ' ' " Among the many pleasant events of the past week happenings at Sacred Heart academy was a visit from Rev. Father J. M. Sullivan, who was recently recent-ly commissioned chaplain, with tho( rank of First Lieutenant at Camp Zachary Taylor, Tennessee. Father Sullivan was a popular instructor and athletic coach for All Hallows college, Salt Lake City, prior to his enlistment in tho army. Upon receiving his commission com-mission from the officers' training camp, he paid a short visit to his boyhood boy-hood home in Atlanta, Ga. During his furlough he alsopaid a visit to friends in Pittsburgh. Pa., Washington, D. C , St. Louis, Mo. On his return trip west he did not forget Ogden. A place dear to the heart of this good man, who has countless friends in the community and where he has conducted services many times. He has a very pleasing personality, is a singer of ability, a brilliant conversationalist and possesses pos-sesses a happy disposition that endears en-dears him to all with whom he comes in contact He has been assigned for duty at Camp Lewis with orders to report at once. Needless to add he is very eager to see service overseas and is proud, indeed, to be privileged to wear the uniform of the United States army, and there is no doubt Father Sullivan v.' Ill give good account of himself in tho present struggle for a democratic and humane government foi the people peo-ple of the allied nations. He goes with the best wishes of his numerous friends in Ogden and at the same time adding another star to fair Utah's service ser-vice flag. Miss Mary. McKenna succeeded in getting this snap shot during his brief visit with Ogden friends, the beautiful grounds surrounding Sacred Heart academy forming the background. |
