DOUGLAS MERiCAL CORPS TO BE CALLED ONTO HELP OGDEN DOCTORS FIGHT THE INFLUENZA In an interview this morning, Inspector In-spector George Shorten of the city board of health, said that undoubtedly Spanish influenza is increasing at a too rapid rate In the city off Ogden and vicinity and It is undoubtedly due to the fact that there Is gross carelessness care-lessness and lack of ordinary common sense in attempting to combat the malady. There is too much crowding' crowd-ing' down-town and there Is too much disregard of sane and healthy methods meth-ods of living. The doctors of the city are overworked; the number of cases is increasing every day. At tho present pres-ent time there are more than 430 Cases Cas-es reported of all kinds of bad colds, grip and Influenza. The situation is so serious that a meeting was called this morning of the city and county boards of health, the city and county commissioners, at which Martin Brown was elected a chairman of a special committee, consisting of himself him-self and Dra. W. R. Emmett and W. R. Brown and Inspector Shorten, to go seriously into the matter of devising devis-ing ways and means of meeting the demands of the situation. In accordance with the findings of this morning's, meeting, the committee commit-tee has gone to Salt Lake to interview inter-view Dr. Bcatty of the State board of health, and will visit Fort Douglas and have a conference with tho medical authorities of that military station to see what help may be expected from that quarter In helping out the Ogden Og-den situation. The committee has in mind the equipping of two emergency hospitals one at the north end of the city, and one In the downtown district. Tho Doe hospital is full to capacity; there is a shortage of nurses and the critical criti-cal situation, it is hoped, will be helped by doctors and ordorlies from the military camp at Fort Douglas. In attendance at the meeting this morning were Sam Browning, Miles Jones and Chris Flygare of the city commission; Moroni gkeen, Martin Brown and D. H.
