Show REPUBLIC! TICKET NAMED ON LAST SATURDAY The complete legislative and county ticket named at the Republican county convention, Saturday, follows: For state senator Joseph E. Wright. For state representatives Mrs. J. G. Falck, William Allison, Dr. A. S. Condon, of Ogdcn; Thomas E. McKay, Huntsville. For four-year commissioner Moroni Skeen. For two-year commissioner Joseph H. Fowles, Hooper. For county clerk Joseph E. Storey. For county attorney Joseph E. Evans. Ev-ans. For county treasurer Norman F. Bingham, Riverdale. For sheriff Richard Pincock. For recorder Miss Edith Reid'. For assessor J. S. Robson, Plain City. For surveyor Ralph Corlew. For Ogden constable Henry E. Steele. The Platform. A strong party platform was drawn up and accepted at the convention, one of tho declarations embracing tho statement that "tho only honorable conclusion of this war Is tho .unconditional .uncon-ditional surrender of Germany and tho central powers and demand that the war be carried on until that object is attained." The following is the complete report of the committee on platform and resolutions: reso-lutions: The Republican party of Weber county in its county convention assenw bled adopts and declares the following resolutions a3 its county platform: We reaffirm our devotion to the National Na-tional Republican party and its principles princi-ples and policies. We reaffirm tho platform of the Republican party adopted at the state convention on Friday, October 4, 1918, in Salt Lake City, Utah. We approvo of the entrance of the United States into this war of Democracy Democ-racy against Autocracy and we favor the prosecution of tho war with energy ener-gy and earnestness to a successful and honorable termination, and will support sup-port with all our power tho commander comman-der in chief of the army and navy to that end. Wo believe that the only honorable conclusion of this war is tho unconditional uncon-ditional surrender of Germany and the central powers and demand that the war be carried on until that object is attained. We hold that America should be first and foremost in the hearts of every eve-ry rosldont within the boundaries of the United States. We appeal to all patriotic citizens to aid in every "Wiy possible in the prosecution of this war honorably and energetically. We reaffirm our belief that American Ameri-can labor and American industry should be safeguarded by safe money and a protective tariff. ' We denounce the profiteer, the pacifist, paci-fist, the slacker and all -who would retard re-tard the prosecution of tho war for human hu-man rights, human happiness and the establishment of a permanent worldwide world-wide peace. Wo reaffirm our allegiance to the i i proposition that women should have I equal rights with men, and wc favor! I tho adoption of the amendment to our fedoral constitution providing for women wo-men tho right of suffrage. Wo condemn con-demn the action of Democratic members mem-bers of congress in refusing to voto for such a constitutional amendment. Wc are in favor of enforcing all laws impartially and vigorously, and we aro especially in favor of a strict enforcement of the prohibition law now upon our state books. We favor tho ratification of the proposed pro-posed amendment to the federal constitution con-stitution prohibiting tho manufacture and sale of Intoxicating liquors in the United States. We pledge the Republican candidates candi-dates to a program of economy and efficiency in the' administration of the affairA of this county, and wc pledge the Republican candidates to the performance per-formance of their respective duties individually in-dividually and without employing unnecessary un-necessary help or assistance. We point with pride to the fact that four Republican members of congress havo offered their lives to tho service of our country on the field of battle, one of whom now lies wounded In a French hospital. We highly commend tho principles of Americanism announced by Theodore Theo-dore Roosevelt Wc commend tho prompt and efficient effi-cient manner in which Senator Reed Smoot serves the interests of all the people of this state, irrespective of party, in his capacity as their representatives repre-sentatives at the national capital, and I especially his persistent and successful success-ful cfrorts to secure Justice for the vet-orans vet-orans of the Civil and Spanish American Ameri-can wars and thoir widows. |
