Today's event was far different than the usual field day meet of college athletes. ath-letes. Instead of the shotpui there was the hand grenade competition where men matched their skill in tossing toss-ing hand gTenades at an enemy trench, distance and accuracy deciding the winners. Rescue Race Fifty Yards Instead of the 100 yard dash, there was the rescue race, in which two men teams ran 50 yards to "wounded men." lifted them to their shoulders and returned re-turned with them to the starting point. Bayonet competition with wooden wood-en rifles, plastron and gloves, team- of ten men from each regiment, was seen instead of the pavelln throw. Wall scaling contests replaced the pule vault events. The men ran in squads, 25 yards to the 10-foot wall over It, and 25 feet beyond without losing their hats. There was a relay litter race, in which teams or eight men participated.
