Show PRIZES AWARDED TO' BEET GROWERS 111 ! NORTHERN UTAH The Amalgamated Sugar company, through its district agricultural superintendent, super-intendent, John F. Barton, announces the prize winners among the growers of sugar beet?, who were entered in the contest of last summer, the prizes ranging from $25 to $100, according to the acreage. When the contest was begun last spring, the rules of the contest called I for the planting, and entry, of from I one to twenty or more acres, the scoring scor-ing being done on the basis of 1, 3. 5 , 15 or 20 or more acres, the prize of ?100 being offered for the best 20, or more acre field. Four districts of northern Utah were involved in the competition and a large list of contestants was filed. Ow ing to a rush of business, the scorinc; of the fields was delayed a little longer than had been expected, but Superintendent Superin-tendent Barton announces that the payment of the prize money will now be made to the men whose names appear ap-pear as winners. The judges of the fields were James Patterson of Riverdale, John May of Plain City and -Charles Mitchell of Clinton. The scoring was done on the b.isi of 30 tons to the acre. Tho highest high-est scoring was a run of 31 tons per acre yield, though there were other elements entering into the judging of; the beet patches.
