At th business meeting which is always held before the regular program, pro-gram, Mrs. Fred G Clark presided and several important reports were ! given after which splendid program I was given by Mr and Mrs. Melvin Pnerson 01 Salt Lake City and Mr Lawrence Eberly also of the capital city. Mr. Peterson Is one of the most accomplished vocalists of Salt Lake City and is a brother-m-taw of Mrs. Eccles He is a baritone singer ami numbered among the best singers of the 6tate. The first number on the program, which was unusual in its cleverness. 1 was a paper on "American Loyalty to j American Mum and Musicians." The paper was written by Mr Peterson and at the club meeting was very well read by Mrs Peterson, who also proved herself a capable entertainer. The second and following numbers on the program were; Song. "Where Ere You Walk," Handel Song, "En Sourdine" Hnhn Mr. Peterson Group of Songs from Tennyson's "Maud" Somervell Mr, Peterson. Whose solo numbers were also enjoyed by the ladies present. Altogether the program was quite the most entertaining given for some time and was in entire harmony with the exquisite surroundings of the new Eccles home which ha6 just been completed. com-pleted. Last Thursday afternoon in the City Hall a splendid meeting of the Vinoenl Chautauqua circle was held. The line representation of members present made the meeting decidedly enthusiastic enthus-iastic and the chapters taken up at i this time were very interesting and well given. The book. "How to Live." by Irving Fisher, who is connected with th-' Life Extension Institute of I New York, is one of the most instructive in-structive and thoroughly entertaining books taken up by the Chautauqua readers this season and at the meet- ' f r , . A letter was read at this meeting from the National War Council board of the Y. M. C. A. from Camp Lewis.
