Show watebmeObm RAIDS TO 8E STOPPED Of POLICE CW W. Rugg, who was arrested by Officer Of-ficer Mohlman, was given a fine of $10 or 10 days in the city jail in police court this morning. Rugg was charged charg-ed with taking a watermelon from a , farm in the northwest part of town. (Rugg was accompanied by V. M. Chase, who received tho same sentence. sen-tence. The court stated that the 'practice of stealing watermelons was becoming serious and that offenders would receive re-ceive a heavy fine when brought to court. Evidence shows that several i farmers have suffered heavy losses already this year. In ono instance, an offender was seen with an automobile loaded with stolen melons. The court stated that this practice would be stopped,-if possible. W. B. Enix, who was charged with battery, was given permission by the court to defer entering a plea until tomorrow morning when he will bo represented by an attorney. Enix is charged with battery against the person per-son of H. W. Dunn, president of tho Ogden Horse Sales Company. nn |
