Baseball playing is to become a regular part of the phy--sical training of the French army, as a result of reports made by French officers of-ficers on what they had seen of the effects of baseball 6n the American army. TIip reports led the ministry of war to issue an order recommending the adoption of baseball in the French army. General Vidal Tuosday sent Captain G. Forbes, an American officer attached attach-ed to his sttvfr. to the headquarters of the Knights of Columbus with the request re-quest that John Evers, the former American baseball star, be sent to his corps to instruct tho soldiers in the American national game. ; The request was granted and Mr., Evers will go to the French camps with two assistants and equipment provided by the Knights of Columbus. He will remain a fortnight, after which I his assistants will continue tho in-j stmclion. |
