Show THRESHING MACHINE DESTROYED BY FIRE MEADOW, Aug. 20 A hot box on the cylinder head of a threshing machine" ma-chine" owned by Gull & Stewart generated gen-erated a spark which ignited tho contents con-tents of the separator and resulted in the loss of tho machino yesterday. One stack of wheat and a large stack of straw also were consumed. The fire occurred a mile north of Meadow on the C. R. Gull farm. Tho burning separator was removed in timo to prevent tho burning of adjoining stacks of wheat, and the firo finally was extinguished by heroic work on the part of the threshermen. oo We have read in several papers recontly that Mexico has been displaying dis-playing a moro friendly spirit toward the United States and we were unable j to account for it until today, when we lampedo a Washington dispatch that said 40,000 Germans had gono from tho United States to Mexico since we declared war. oo New York Railway Co. has asked for permission to Increase the faro to 7 cents, and an Investigation shows that It pays to tho companies whor.o lines it leases and operates a rental of IS per cent, of thoir actual value.
