Show WTINESSES IN THE T. H. TRACY TRIAL SEATTLE, Wash., March 14. Charles Tucker, member of a sheriff's posse, was the first witness to be called today in the murder trial of Thomas H. Tracy. Tracy is accused of killing Deputy Sheriff Jefferson Beard of Everett, in a fight between the posse and an expedition of "free speech" advocates. Tucker was wounded The "free speech" advocates were sent on the steamer Verona to Ever-I Ever-I ett by the Seattle headquarters of the Industrial Workers of the World to I speak on the main business street, in I violation of an ordinance. They were j forbidden to land by Sheriff Donald McRae and in the fight that ensued! two of the posse and five of the expedition expe-dition were killed. Tucker and nearly a score of others were wounded. Tucker previously corroborated the testimony of other witnesses for the prosecution that the first shots in tne' fight were fired by men aboard the! boat and that not until the sheriff and j members of the posse had been wound ed was the fire returned by the men on the dock. |
