Show oo SALT LIE Ml IS KILLED I AUTO Twin Falls, Ida., Aug. 9. S. P. Chrlstenson of Salt Lake City was killed and H. V. Sackett of Pocatello, Ida., severely cut and bruised In an auto accident near here tonight. Chrlstensen, a well-known traveling shoe salesman for Z. C. M, I. of Salt Lake City, was driving tho car and as he attempted to cross a bridge over the Lowlne Irrigation canal, two miles south of Twin Falls, ho failed to make the turn. His car struck the railing of tho bridge and went Into tho canal, where it was almost submerged. sub-merged. Sackett extricated himself with difficulty and made frantic attempts at-tempts to rescue Chrlstonsen. Some fifteen minutes later nearby farmers came to tho rescue and succeeded suc-ceeded In locating the body of Chrlstonsen, Chrls-tonsen, which thoy found pinned in several feet of water under a heavy beam from the bridge railing. Physicians who arrived on the scene soon atter the accident sold that the y 9 injuries to Christensen's head and chest, rather than drowning, caused his death. Sackett's nerves were so shattered y the experience that after being brought to Twin Falls the attendance of a physician and nurse was required, re-quired, although his physical Injuries were .not serious. Sackett is traveling travel-ing representative for the Cudahy Packing company. Both men were well known in this city and, Chrlstensen was hastening to Twin Falls from a side tripe tx a nearby town to keep a dinner engagement en-gagement at the Hotel Rogerson with friends. Salt Lake, Aug. 10. -Samuel Chrlstensen Chrls-tensen was about '31 years of age, a native of Utah and resident of Sandy for more than twenty years. Ho was a member of the firm of Jensen & ChristenBon, merchants of Sandy. jje js survived by his widow wid-ow and two children, .Mrs. Chrlstensen Chrlsten-sen being the daughter of the late Isaac Harrison of Sandy: also by two brothers and two sisters. Henry V. Sackett, a salesman for the Cudahy company, who was seriously seri-ously Injured, removed from Salt Lake to Pocatello about five months ago. He is married and his father, S. A. Sackett, is a resident of Salt Lake. |
