Show JOSEPH CHEZ WILL NOT ASPIRE TO OFFICE In an Interview as to whether he was correctly quoted In this morn- ing's paper, Joseph Chez said that he was, and further stated: "I do not feel that I can be a candidate can-didate for congress from this district at this time. I still have two years to serve as state senator, and I fell that it Is my duty to serve out the term for which I was elected. I owe that much to the people who placed me In that position. I went before them as a candidate for that office, and pledged myself that, if elected, I would represent them In the legislature legis-lature to tho best of my ability. My promise to them must be kept, and I cannot desert my post, and for these reasons I positively decline to be a candidate for congress. I appreciate the good will shown by the people in suggesting my name In connection with this high office, but this is my ultimatum." |
