Show NAMPA, IDAHO, HAS TRAGEDY Jealous Peddler Kills the Man Who Married His Former Wife. Nampa, Ida., March 1. Sam Richardson Rich-ardson was shot and instantly killed at 7:30 o'clock tonight by his wife's former husband, Ernest Hardenburg. The murder was the result of a quarrel quar-rel which followed the entrance of Hardenburg to the Richardson home, in the guise of a peddler. Mrs. Richardson Rich-ardson was saved from a similar fate by the quick action of her sister, Miss Maude Brookes, who attacked Hardenburg when he turned his gun on Mrs. Richardson. Hardenburg appeared at the kitchen door of the Richardson home, nine miles south of here, about 7:30 o'clock tonight, pretending to be selling soap. He was admitted by Mrs.' Richardson, and he addressed her in exceedingly familiar tones, despite the fact that the two were divorced about a year ago. Richardson became angry and a quarrel ensued. When it grew heated, heat-ed, Hardenburg drew a revolver and killed Richardson. As Mrs. Richardson turned jio flep from the room, Hardenburg turned the gun upon her. Miss Brookes then attacked the murderer and succeeded in emptying the gun of the remaining shells. Then Hardenburg beat her to the floor with the weapon and fled. Starting toward Nampa In his buggy, bug-gy, tho fugitive abandoned the vehicle vehi-cle about four miles out, when the horse gave out. He then took to the fields, walking toward Nampa. Bloodhounds Blood-hounds wore put on the trail, but up to midnight had not found the man. oo |
