Show OLYMPIC CLUB DEFEATED BY U. University Hoopmen Overwhelm Over-whelm San Franciscans Before Be-fore Nearly 2000 Spectators Specta-tors Score 46 to 25. Salt Lake, March 2. Opening with a startling attack that completely overwhelmed the famed Olympic club of San Francisco, national A. A. U. basketball champs, the University of Utah played largo round rings around their opponents and scampered off the floor with a 46 to 25 victory. The invading in-vading team was outclassed from the first jump, and at no stage of the game did they even threaten the playing play-ing of the local hoopsters. The passing and team work of Coach Norgren's men was a revelation. revela-tion. Snatching the sphere on tho first toss-up, the Crimson quinsters worked repeatedly a criss-cross formation forma-tion that took the ball down from a defensive de-fensive position to a waiting forward, who tossed it into the cage with an unfailing accuracy that was fairly uncanny. un-canny. In every department of the game the east benchers showed hitherto hith-erto unparalleled class. There were many present who predicted that the machine which represented the state institution last night was the best that has ever been developed at the university. Clydo Packer, right forward, was tho individual star of the game. The wiry basket shooter copped a total of ten field baskets, two of which were extremoly difficult shots. Van Pelt also played a stellar game. Tho long one caged seven of the big counters count-ers and got the jump on his man throughout the game. It was team work that won for Utah moro than anything else, however. Every man was in the gamo up to his neck and every play was worked out with a nicety that reminded one of a I well-roundod gridiron machine. Utah's guarding was unusually strong. Romney and Goodrich spoiled most of the San Franciscans' attempts at scoring and aided considerably in keeping tho ball within firing range of the invaders' baskot. Capt. Ray Gilbert for the visitors played the best gamo. Ho was in good form and had he been given better support, would have doubtless made a better showing. Hellings, who substituted sub-stituted in the second period for Schu-bort, Schu-bort, did some excellent work while ho was in the game and speared three field baskets. The coasters wore completely baffled baf-fled by the whirlwind attack of th'o Norgrenites. If they do anything at all in the coming national championships champion-ships which are to be held In Chicago the last of this month the local university uni-versity can justly claim ranking with the best teams of tho nation. A crowd of nearly 2000 attended the game. The summary and line-up: UTAH (4G). OLYMPIA (25). Clark If....' Schubert Packer r.f Berndt Van Pelt c R.
