A more mod-crate mod-crate continuance of yesterday's forward for-ward movement was recorded by today's to-day's early market initial figures showing variable gains in most divisions divi-sions of tho active list Texas company com-pany and Mexican Petroleum were 1 to 2 points higher, with similar advances ad-vances In somo of the war shares, motors and certain specialties, including includ-ing Tennessee Copper and American Tobacco. Ralls were relatively Inactive, Inac-tive, with fractional improvement in Baltimore and Ohio, Canadian Pacific, Rock Island and Southern Railway Preferred. United States Steel was barely steady on light trading. Secondary Sec-ondary quotations wero more irregular. Chicago Grain .Chicago, Feb. 3. Wheat showed some renewal of strength today as a result of Liverpool advices that were more bullish than had been expected. Argentina shipments to Europe, although al-though increased, were said to bo disappointing dis-appointing as to volume, where as Import Im-port needs, especially in Great Britain, Brit-ain, seemed to be on the increase. Buying here, however, was light and the announcement of fresh embargoes against Philadelphia and Baltimore had an unsettling effect. Opening prices, which varied from unchanged figures to l-2c higher, with May at $1.33 to 1.33 1-2, and July at $1.24 5-8 to 1.24 3-4 were followed by a moderate moder-ate general advance and then a sharp setback, but not of a lasting sort Clear cold weather that promised enlarged receipts tended to ease the corn market. Wheat strength, though, acted to a considerable extent as an offset' After opening at l-8c decline to a shade advance, prices underwent a sag all around, but recovered In full.
