Show AN INTRUDER FROM BOSTON. ' A. E. Winship, editor of the Journal of Education, Boston is quoted as declaring: "There are some men and women wo-men in Ogden who are not educators, edu-cators, who have never attended an educational convention 'outside 'out-side of Utah, who have not read a modern educational book or article ar-ticle and naturally they think tho schools of today should have the pace of the oxcart and not of the horse or automobile. The world will manage to be progressive whether Ogden Is or not." We doubt that Mr. Winship has an intimate knowledge of the school affairs af-fairs of Ogden or could give an in telligent answer to the question: What has brought about the disor. ganization of the school system of Ogden? Our guess is that the article in the Journal of Education was contributed or inspired by some one in Ogden. The people of this city are quite as progressive as the people in cul- tured Boston, and perhaps are more liberal in their treatment of all public questions including the supervision of their schools. T.he Standard invites Mr. Winship to set forth his views on the schools of Ogden, offering space for that pur. pose. Wo would like to draw him out on this issue, and discover to what extent he is willing to risk his reputation as an educator in support of irregularities that have crept into our school system which the people desire to correct. |
