Show CHAUTAUQUA READING CIRCLE. Plans for the graduation of a number num-ber of students of the Chautauqua Reading circle In Ogden, the exercises exer-cises to take place during the Utah Chautauqua assembly in the summer, were discussed last evening at the regular meeting of the circle, when Dr. E. P. Mills outlined some of the plans for the gathering this year. This was done at the special request of members of the circle. The Chautauqua circle was entertained enter-tained by Miss Hattle Patterson at the cozy home of Madame Holberg, 1220 Twenty-fifth street. The attendance attend-ance of readers was larger than at any previous meeting and lively discussions dis-cussions followed each subject on tne program, which was directed by Fred Preshaw. President H U. Griffin gave an excellent paper on "The Problem Prob-lem of the Unemployed, " as found in "Democratic England." the book now under review. Dr. E. P Mills discussed dis-cussed state insurance against sick ness and Mrs. Joseph Falck gave a paper on Problems of Old Age, " which the government of England has sought to solve. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Miss Rosalie Holberg Madame Hol-berg Hol-berg delighted the company with a piano selection. Guests of the evening were Mr and Mrs. Quiucy R. Craft. Mrs. Gertrude Carr, Mtb. J. E Beeson and Miss Bennett. Ben-nett. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, March 9, at the home ot Mrs. E. P. Mills, 2613 Madison ave-aue. |
