Show WORBY OVER II DEBT CAUSES Mi TO II HIS LIFE Ernest Bult, .of 2853 Pacific avenue, committed suicide early yesterday evening at his home by firing a bullet from a revolvor into his head. The fatal shot was fired shortly after 5:30 o'clock and he died an hour later at the Dee hospital. Worry, it is said, over inability to meot payments due on a mortgage on his home, is said to have been the reason for the man's rash act. " He was the owner of a dry farm in Idaho, the purchase of which made it necessary for him to mortgage Mb home on Pacific avenue a year ago. Ho had lived on the farm for a time with his family, trying in vain to make It provide a living. Finally, giving up, ho brought his family back to Ogden two weeks ago. H1b financial finan-cial troubles, however, were not solved and for the past week he had been showing signs of despondency which his wife and two daughters had tried to lighten. Yesterday, he appeared to be especially discouraged and remained at home all day. About 5:30 o'clock, he left the room where he had been .talking with his wife and daughters, tho latter aged 12 and 14 years, and went into an adjoining room. A moment lpter, the members of the family heard a shot and, running frantically fran-tically into the other rom, found the husband and father lying on the floor in a pool of blood which was coming from a wound in his head. At his side was the revolver which he had used In the attempt to end his troubles. Cries of the wife and daughters daugh-ters brought neighbors to the home and tho ambulance was summoned. The injured man was hurried to the Dee hospital, where Dr. E. I. Rich, the family physician, made every effort ef-fort to save his life, but without avail, death coming at 6:30 o'clock, just an hour after the shot was fired. The bullet had pierced the head, just behind the left ear, passing through and emerging in front of the right ear near the temple. The victim vic-tim did not recover consciousness at any time after the shot was fired. The body was taken last night to the Lindquist mortuary where It will be held pending fuseral arrangements. arrange-ments. The deceased is survived by his wife and two daughters, a brother, Thomas Bult of Salt Lake City, and a sister, Mrs. Harry Brain, also of Salt . Lake. The brother and sister came ' to Ogden last night. Mr. Bult was a member of the Ogden lodge, Wood- . nen of the World, who will probably lave charge of the funeral arrange- ' nents. I |
