On the whole the industry in-dustry was favored with exceptional conditions last year. While there were one or two failures of large man-j lufacturlng concerns in 1914, most oi j the makers of automobiles in this J country' prospered. Some of them ; grew In a wav that was amazing, and j practically all of the manufacturer-of manufacturer-of motor cars are preparing for a lrger business this year. Several new firms with immense capital have entered en-tered the manufacturing field and other American concerns are rea--hln;: out for new business In South America Amer-ica and Europe. The Increased demand for motor fl cars in this country is attributed In I large part to the prosperity of the farmer. Good crops and high prices have given the producer in this country coun-try the opportunity to cancel mortgages mort-gages and to Indulge in luxuries as never before. For that matter an automobile au-tomobile is a near-necessity to the farmer, who looks upon the purchase of a car now as an investment. It may be that American manufacturers manu-facturers of automobiles have not lightly forecast condition;? In this country.
