Millions of dollars worth of byproducts from coke production are literally thrown away annually In the United States through the continued U30 of the obsolete ob-solete beehive oven process, according accord-ing to a report today by the geological geolog-ical survey. The loss by that method last year is estimated at fully $40,-000,000. $40,-000,000. In 1914 tho total output of coke was 34,555,914 short tons, valued at $8,334,217. Of this output, tho report re-port says, 23,335,971 tons was made In beehive ovens, with an almost total to-tal loss of tho by-products, such as tar, ammonia, gas and benzol, and 11,219,943 short tons was produced In by-products ovens, with a recovory of over $17,500,000 worth of by-products.
