Show THAW'S REMOVAL MAV BEDELAYED Legal Proceedings May Be Long Drawn Out Before Defendant Sees Inside of Tombs Prison. New York, Dec. 22. W illiam Trav-ers Trav-ers Jerome was unprepared today to say when the legal machinery for the extradition of Harry K. Thaw from New Hampshire to this county would be put in motion. He indicated that he had reason to believe that Thaw s aCornoys would start new habeas corpus cor-pus proceedings in New Hampshire and that he feared it might bo a Ioiik time before Thaw saw the inside of the Tombs prison, where it is planned plan-ned to keep him pending his trial on the charge of conspiracy to escape from the Matteawan state hospital for the criminal insane. It was pointed out to Mr. Jerome today that enco removed to the rhombs, Thaw might be admitted to bail. "If he is admitted to ball," said Mr Jerome, "the superintendent of Mat-teav.an Mat-teav.an will immediately present a detainer under which Thaw will be taken to Matteawan as an insane man, to nwait his triai. "if he is convicted I presume he will serve out such sentence as is imposed upon him. whereupon the detainer de-tainer consisting of his original com-iui'.ineni com-iui'.ineni 10 Matteawan having been filed at nis place of imprisonment, will occasion his return to Matteawan." Mattea-wan." Thaw's attorneys would say nothing noth-ing auout his case. |
