The bout went the stipulated stipu-lated four rounds, although Myers made a claim of foul in the final frame, which was not allowed. Her-rern Her-rern clearly oulboxed the hard-hitting Harman club star, whose right could not find a weak spot in the Mexican s armor It will take a boxer with a good left hook to make the chunky fort lgm-r lose a decision. The semi-final between "Battling" Johnson and Red Andrews of Ogden was the best that has been shown Manhattan club patrons. The local star stopped the Ogden lad in the final fi-nal round, but knew that he had been in a battle long before he earned the decision Andrews scored the clean est knock-downs in the first round. In the second only the gong saved the Ogden battler from being counted out. ay Johnson had sent him to the Cknvas, Knock-downs were frequent in the third. Andrews wont to the floor in three occasions and forced Johnson down on one occasion. In the final round Johnson Bent Andrews down repeatedly, and he was at last counted out while on his knees and in the act of rising to continue the bout He put up one of the best and gam est exhibitions shown here in years. "Two Round" Farley of Ogden had to go three rounds to stop "Kid" Bo-bo, Bo-bo, the negro boxer. Bobo entered the ring With an apparent cast- of stage fright, the reputation of the Ogden boy being too large in the eyes of the "smoke." At that, he made a good showing anil damaged Farley about the face with left Jabs before the heavy bombardment wore him down. "Young" Wolgast was another boxer box-er to fail to show his true form, although al-though he earned a draw with "Bud" Tut k r oleast was practically out at the conclusion of the second round but rallied in splendid fashion and had much the better of the remaining two rounds He was not in the best of shape and his accustomed speed was lacking. "Cyclone" Lefty, an old Manhattan club favorite, mad.' "Kid" Mack take the count in the third round of their engagement, the rushing tactics oi tne winner being too much for his vounger opponent Mack is too good natured to be a boxer. "Kid Battler" and "Kid Mauler" were the curtain raiser The latter played the receiving end iu a bout that was good for its comedy features fea-tures and took th count gracefully early in the third round. |
