Show BURLEY BEET SUGAR PUT OPERATING IT CAPACITY The Amalgamated Sugar company's factory' at Burley, Ida- began cutting cut-ting beets Monday and the plant is new running full capacity Royal Eccles Ec-cles came down from there yester day and states the mill is doing fine w ork. Wben the factory opened there were 1000 tons of beets in the bin6 and the farmers were putting in their beot time digging in tho fields. It is calculated that even though there j w ere only sufficient boots on hand I f oi a two days' run, the factory will not stop for lack of beets Condi-lions Condi-lions are favorable for digging and the growers say there Is no question but that they will be able to keep the I machinery going, as they will be ab;e , to furnish more than 600 tons a dav When the Burley factory' 'was ' moved from La Grande, Ore., it was a question with the late David Eccles whether sufficient beets could be sup plied in the Burley district but on the promise of farmers there that they would plant a good acreage, he ordered the plant erected. The plant had not paid a dividend at La Grande and Mr Eccles concluded that it would do no less at Burley. Managers of the company say the results at Burley have been quite (satisfactory (sat-isfactory and that, If the sugar-making business is continued any great length of time, the Burley country will prove one of the best beet dls i tricts This year the farmers will supply the factory with about 45,000 tons of heets and the tonnage will bo greater next year. |
