Show ORATORICAL CONTEST IS HELD I THE TABERNACLE The oratorical, retold story and choral contest of the Ogden Stake Mutual Improvement associations wore held last night at the Tabernacle, Taber-nacle, with Mrs. R B. Porter as chairman chair-man of the meeting. The Judges for the speaking contests were Judge William H. Reeder, Moroni Olson nad Miss Luclle Thurman and the Judges for the choral contest were Ellen Thomas, Lester Hlnchcllff and He-ber He-ber Oborn. The contestants all acquitted them-solves them-solves with credit and the judgments wero close In each case. Special features fea-tures of the meeting, in addition to the contest numbers, was the playing of a piano prelude by Lillian Wright and the singing of a selection by a double mixed quartette from North Ogden. Henry Jensen of Pleasant View was the winner of the oratory contest. Hia subject was "Brlgham Young, tho I Man of the Hour." The other orations ora-tions were "Nature, tho Teachor," given by ailss Rae Lofgreen of Hunts-vllle; Hunts-vllle; "Friendship," by Wllmer Jen-son Jen-son of the Fourth ward and "A Pro-tost Pro-tost Against Spanish Dominion in the Western Hemisphere," by Floyd Pickett. Pick-ett. Miss Agnes Warner was given first position In the rc.-told story contest. Her number, was '-The Newsboy and Ills Dog." ',ThcKamc Man's Christmas" Christ-mas" was given by Berlette Nellson of Huntsvillo and "Robert of Sicily," by Pearl Wnrdleigh of the Sixth ward. The North Ogden junior girls won the choral contest with tho Fourth ward girls their only opponents. |
