Show GENERAL DIAZ AT MONTE CARLO Monte Carlo , April 21. General Porflrio Diaz, formerly Mexican dictator, dic-tator, has come here to recover from the after-effects of an attack ot grippe. He Is accompanied by his wife. The convalescence of the general,, who Is nearly 84, Is progressing normally, nor-mally, although he 1b troubled with deafness. He' shows great Interest In Mexico news and besides reading all available newspapers, receives many personal telegrams on the subject sub-ject General Diaz refused today to make .any comment whatever on the action of the United States toward General LHuarta. although a corresnondont re-, minded him of his often repeated remark re-mark that the only circumstances under un-der which he would return to Mexico Mex-ico would he when peace had been established there or when his country was attacked by a foreign power. Some months ago General Diaz urged General Huerta, as an act of patriotism, to retire from the dictatorship dicta-torship of Mexico in favor of some one who could obtain the confidence of all factions in the country. |
