Show CONTEST HELD I THE FIFTH WARD LAST I ,4 The Y. L. M. I. A. of the Firth ward held a contest last night In dramatic dra-matic reading and re-told stories, Tor the purpose of deciding who should represent the association in the stake contcsiB whtch will be hold In May. He-told stories were given by Mary Jacobs and l.eah Pardoe. Miss Jacobs Ja-cobs gave "Why tho Chimes Rang,' and Miss Pardoe "The Happy Prince." The judges' decision was in favor of Miss Pardoe. Headings wore glvon by Miss Marsh and Julia Noble. The fonnor was adjudged the winner. She read a cutting from "The Porfect Tribute, and Miss Noble read "The Two Glasses." Glass-es." The judges were Mrs. John Reeve, Mls; Thompson and Mrs. F. T. 01-sen 01-sen and, while they were considering the points in tho contest, Violet Hall gave a fine reading of "The Exile ol the Acadians." from Evangeline. This, with a piano and violin duet, by Ma-rilla Ma-rilla Hunter and Nellio Parmley, added add-ed much to the pleasure that was found In the program. oo |
