Show BENSON WILL TALK ON HOME CANNING O. H. Benson, official head of the Boys' and Girls' Farm and Home co nomics clubs in the United States, and specialist in charge of that work, department of agriculture, will talk to the Farmers' Round-up and Housekeepers' House-keepers' conference visitors in Logan Lo-gan January 26 on the utilization of by-product In home canning, and will give canning demonstration the next morning. The movement which Mr. Benson represents is a comparatively new one, but one of great importance as it seems to get the bovs of the coun try interested in growing vegetables, and the girls in making good bread, and canning all sorts of vegetables and fruit. On nearly every farm in the past, many vegetables and fruit products unsuitable for market have been allowed to go to wa6te; now it is proposed to interest the young people on the farm in canning these for the winter use of the family and possibly in a measure, for the market. In view of this, it is expected that Mr Benson's discussion will be of exceptional interest. Mr. Benson is the fifth Washington official who has promised to come to Utah and take part in the Round-up program, which begins next Monday, at the Agricultural Agricul-tural college, Logan, and runs for two weeks. |
