Show EUROPEAN LARCH SEEDS SPROUTING Hi The European larch seeds planted in the Wasatch nursery some time ago have sprouted sufficiently to be transplanted in the field. The sprouts are to be set oul in thr Wasatch na jft tional forest reserw this spnnr The seeds were given to the forestr serv Ice by Count Max von Sivers of Roeni ershof, Russia, and two ounces were sent to E. H Clarke, superintendent of the Wasatch forest, as hi? district's share of the gift. The European larch Is a hardy tree which grows to a tall belghth. It is of splendid foliage and appearance and thrives either In a temperate or frigid zone. It is not a native of North America In addi j tlon to setting out several hundred larch trees. Superintendent Clarke al so will plant about 30.000 Douglas firs, Bngleman spruce and western larch. no |
