By a vote of 45 to 18 the senate refused re-fused to take Mr Ixieffler s name out of the resolution containing the names of the prospective seuate officers. Senator l alollette then asked for n division of the resolution, so that n separate vote mlht be had on the election of Mr Ioeffler The senate elected James F Bacon Ba-con of South Carolina, secretary Forest For-est J Prettyman of Washington, D C. captain, and Herbert Croesley of Pennsylvania, assistant doorkeeper Senator La Follette nominated A D. Sumner for doorkeeper, but he was defeated 47 to 5, and Mr Loeffler was then elected without a rollcall Senator Gore asked that the whole matter involving his charges be referred re-ferred to the committee on privileges and elections for action oo |
