nightly lB ATTLES T police meet Con nual resistance in russia il st petersburg jan 14 the police who are conducting a series ol 01 arrests in house searches as tha result of the information obtained from tho recently captured docks are having almost nightly battles with tho terrorists and fighting organizations of the revolutionists last night there two affrays in which the police had ono killed andea lieutenant a sergeant and a patrolman wounded chri members of the fighting legion were captured the most serious fight occurred in the center of the respectable residence quarter on basil island A detachment ot police which attempted to storm a suspected dwelling was met with continuous volleys from revolvers and rifles and was finally compelled to withdraw with the loss of three men A force of infantry was summoned and after several volleys the revolutionists surrendered an attack on a house revolutionists on st petersburg island was repulsed a policeman being wounded and the garrison escaped in the darkness
