PRESIDENT WILL VISIT ST LOUIS new orleans la sept 18 president Roosevel ts telegram to mayor behrman announcing his intention to come here as planned on october 24 it the people of louisiana and new orleans desired him to do so subject only to the quarantine regulations of otner states is received aa an additional indication ot the presidents sympathy mith the people of the state and the city in the fight against yellow fever there is no doubt of the widespread desire here to reciprocate the presidents assistance but the mayor will be unable to make reply until he has considered the whole subject of yellow fever and the quarantines with the local committee in charge of the reception of the president and with governor blanchard who Is representing the state in the matter dr white who is in charge of the fight here in behalf of the government ern ment will no doubt bo consulted it is the opinion of the authorities that the fever will practically dlly have disappeared before tho president is due but there is some doubt whether the adjoining states and tho country parishes of louisiana will be willing to lift the quarantines until further guarantee is assured that there la no further danger from the transmission of the disease
