Show IRRIGATION BONDS TO BE TAKEN BY STATE The state land board yesterday authorized au-thorized the purchase of $50,000 worth of the bonds of the Green River Irrigation Irri-gation district and $20,000 of the bonds of the New Hope Irr.gatlon company, subject to legal approval of iij attorney at-torney general The meeting was attended by attorneys at-torneys representing the three com-panies, com-panies, as well as Attorney General A R. Barnes and Attorney James f. Hammond, who was recently called upon by the laud board for legal advice. ad-vice. Recently Mr. Hammond, acting as special counsel for the board, raised some question as to whether or not the taxes provided for the redemption of bonds constituted a lien on the real estate of the districts. After the receipt of Mr. Hammond's letter the land board docided to notify noti-fy the Irrigation districts Interested, and which were the ones yesterday granted loans, and to have a genoral discussion of the entire subject. The unanimous deciolon at the conclusion con-clusion of the discussion yesterday was that Irrigation bonds are a safe investment for the funds at the disposal dis-posal of the land board and also that the taxec which may be levied to secure se-cure tho redemption of the bonds and nay the interest thereon constitute a lien on all the propertv of the district dis-trict The only other question discussed was whether or not the Irrigation districts dis-tricts should readvertlBe their notice of sale, and this question was referred to the attorney general. Should he decide that it Is necessary, the Irrigation Irriga-tion districts represented all agreed to republish this notice. The law requires this to be published pub-lished for twenty days and It was decided de-cided by the land board that If tho ' attorney general did not advise republication re-publication of the notice they could ' secure the raone yat once; otherwise ' they, could secure It at the end of the j publication. , |
