Show REAL ESTATE PURCHASED BY RAILROAD. 1 One of the higher officials of the Oregon Short Line has in- 1 formed the Standard that the purchases lately made by Hon. Fred 1 J Kicsel, in the block bounded by Wall and Lincoln avenues, Twenty-fourth and Twenty-fifth streets, were for the ITarriman line and within a short time a roadway will be opened from Wall to Lincoln. 60 feet wide, with two tracks covering the entire distance. The rails will be laid on the north and south sides of the new ave- nue winch will be cut through at a point where the Bichsel pickle j works now stand. The center of the street will be paved as a drive- The plan is to create a warehouse district, with trackage lead- j ing to the doors of the 'shippers and ample facilities provided for j loading or unloading either into or from the warehouses or wagons. When asked what this means, the Standard's informant said the Harrhnan roads, recognizing the growing importance of Ogden as a commercial ocnter. are looking forward to the time when more warehouses will be necessary. The annexing of this big strip of land in fnc heart of the business busi-ness district must be accepted as evidence of the confidence the railroad people have in the future of this city. The real estate purchases pur-chases which have made this new move possible aggregate $75,000. With the railroads having faith in Ogden, we should not only have faith but an abundance of optimism. |
