Show GERMAN BARON BUYS IN UINTAH BASIN Vernal, Dec 9 Baron Von Horst, the noted Germun nobleman, thinks the Uintah basin la n most wonderful country. His large purchase of land at the Provo sale last month was more bv accident than previous intention, hilt when he visited the country 10 look at some of his new possessions he was bo well pleased that he has been asking for special literature The baron became Interested when Fred Leonard, manager of the Cullen hotel In Salt Lake, began to sing the praises of this vast empire. Leonard was largclj responsible for the vls't of the Suit Lake moneyed men to this section 'last summer, Tho baron was making a tour or the world and was stopping for a few days at;the Cullen. Leonard told him about the Provo land sale and the German gentleman got busy with his cash The result was that he purchased several thousand acres and went on his way to finish his trip around the world The sale was a big success, notwithstanding notwith-standing that only a small portion or tho vacant land was offered, a large ' area having been reserved for mineral inspection Another sale will perhaps be held soon and the romalnlng land will be placed upon the market The acrcase offered at that time probably did not exceed 200,000 acres and about two-thirds of it was sold.
