Show BITTEN BY A RATTLE SNAKE While mountain climbing at a point a short distance east of the state Industrial In-dustrial school yesterday Martin Gray, an Inmate of the school, was bitten by a rattlesnake and an ugly wound Inflicted In-flicted on the index finger of his left hand. The young man took the precaution to wrap a pocket handkerchief tightly tight-ly around his arm below the elbo to retard the circulation, which saver him a great deal of trouble later. The doctor stated that hed ho not bandaged band-aged the arm, he would have been In rather a bad condition when ho reached reach-ed the school for treatment. The snake drove its fangs well into in-to the flesh of the finger, almost reaching the bone, and when Young Gray reached the school grounds, a couple of hours after tho bite, his hand was badly swollen. Dr. Dickson, Dick-son, the school physician lanced the wound and treated it with antiseptics. Today tho hand 1b quite badly inflam- r ed but it is not in a dangerous condition. con-dition. Gray says he received the bite from the snake as he attempted to climb from one cliff to another, reaching to the lop of the upper cliff whero the snake lay colled in tho sun. He feit a sharp sting on the finger and jumped jump-ed back horrified to see the rattler moving slowly away. |
