Show oo OEPHEUM. Ogden's' first opportunity to pass judgment on an Orpheum road show came last ovenlng, and the verdict of the vaudeville patrons was a most favorable one. Orpheum patrons in this city have heard a great deal about the road show, but comparatively compara-tively few of them were ever fortuuate enough to witness vaudeville of this caliber. From the viewpoint of Orpheum managerial Interests tho road show Is seven acts of vaudeville selected by Martin Back, who books all acts for the circuit, and are considered by him to represent the very highest attainment attain-ment in their various lines of endeavor. en-deavor. The seven acts.Jorm a theatrical theat-rical company which is sent out over the circuit in much the same manner as a legitimate attraction plays a circuit cir-cuit of houses The road, show is an annual event, and this year's offering Is said to be tho greatest collection of headline acts ever offered to Orpheum Or-pheum patrons. It is superfluous even to suggest that tho bill surpasses any other .seven acts ever offered at tho Orpheum In this city. As the headline act of an all-head-lino bill the eight Palace girls have a hard place to fill, but they present a few minutes of artistic dancing which could scarcely be improved upon. The act is a study in blnck and white, the beautifully penciled scene harmonizing harmoniz-ing with "dainty dresses and hats of the same colors. In costuming and staging a highly artistic effect Is obtained. ob-tained. Somo verj clever formations and singing combine with the artistic dancing to form a delightful act. For vaudeville sketches Mr Beck has chosen Joseph Hart's "Honor Among Thieves" to represent what he believes to be the highest attainment in this lino of work, and the selection is a popular one. It lequlres a company com-pany of four people and tho situation which Is built up about the accidental meeting of four crooks-is one which pleases immensely. Every member of tho company is a talented actor selected se-lected for his particular part. In the comedy lino Keller Mack and Frank Orth are mighty prominent characters in the road show bill. They have a comedy sketch which brings a hundred laughs and four or five songs of their own composition are also laugh producers. The title of tho sketch is "The Wrong Hero," and Mack as the "wrong part" of tho sketch is a roal comedian. Simone Do Beryl in tableaux creations crea-tions presents something new to Orpheum Or-pheum patrons. She is a beautiful joung woman who poses with a distinctly dis-tinctly artistic effect. The electrical offects aro tho means of presenting her in some wonderfully vivid characterizations. charac-terizations. Oscar Loraine is the protean violinist violin-ist who combines character wortc with artistic musical ability. As tho only, "single" on the bill he fulfills his part-with part-with great credit to himbolf. . Auother humorous act which meets with exceptional favor aro Seymour Felix and Amelia Claire in their sketch, "The Runaway Kids " They are small in years, but big in entor-tainlng entor-tainlng qualities. Their impersonations impersona-tions of stage celebrities are by no means Inferior to their other work. Musical ability, coupled with acrobatic acro-batic propensities Is a queer combination, combi-nation, but tho Aniaut brothers hand out the two all mixed up. And If you ever saw a man stand on his head and play a piano, go and see how much farther these clever European clowns carry this line of work. Special pictures and special selections selec-tions by tlie Orpheum orchestra complete com-plete the big road show bill, which should not bo missed by any person who has ever attended 'the Orpheum or expects to be a patron In tho future. |
