Tang Shao YI, tho representative of Premier Yuan Shi Kal, today declared, that ho was confident that tho abdication of the throne would be an accomplished fact before Februay 18. There appears to be less confidence now than there hitherto has been that Yuan Kai will bo selected for the presidency of tho republic. On tho other hand tho name of General ,Li Yuen Heng, the present vlco president, pres-ident, is mentlonol, and It is possible that he ma- be eventually selected. The draft of the proposed Magna Charta the new Chinese republic has been completed by Dr. Wu Ting Fang, tho minister of justice In the republican cahinet, and now awaits the approval of the senate at Nanking. Tho document provides for a presidential presiden-tial term of five years, hut the senate sen-ate probably will make tho first term only ono year. it Is thought that a compromise may be reached on tho question of tho futuro capital of China. President Sun Yat Sen, however, asserts positively posi-tively that Nanking will be selected, although he admits that an agreement may he made to keep Poking provisionally provis-ionally as the nominal capital. Desultory outpost fighting continues contin-ues In many places, but tho reports as to the casualties are very much exaggerated on both sides.
