Show SENSATION IN IHE HYDE CASE KANSAS CITY, Nov. 28. An attempt at-tempt tovgot before the jury the intimation in-timation that Dr. B Clark Hyde, accused ac-cused of murdering CoL. Thomas H. Suopo, had designs upon his wife's share of tho latter's estate, failed today. During tho examination of Stewart Fleming an executor of the Swope estate and a nephow of Swope, Senator Sen-ator Reed, who was interrogating the witness sought to have him tell about a conversation ho had with Dr. Hyde regarding drawing a will. Attorney Walsh for the defense, objected and tho jury was withdrawn. Senator Reed then said: "We expect to prove by this witness wit-ness that the defendant and Mr, Fleming had a general conversation about a will: that the defendant asked him to draw a will for himself and his wife. He said he wanted his wife's will to give him all her property, prop-erty, and his will to give all his property to her." "I suppose now they will try to show he intended to kill his wife," suggested Mr. Walsh. "It will show the consummation of his acts," replied Mr. Reed. "Whether or not he Intended to commit an overt act upon his wife, it does show he Intended to get all the property for himself." Judge Porterfield held that there was nothing unuBual about Dr. Hyde Beeklng to havo the wills drawn and sustained the defense's objection. |
