Show LUMBERING PLANT FOR THIUAPANESE Seattle, Wash., Nov. 30j A contract con-tract for $500,000 worth of logging and sawmill machinery, to be used In the first lumbering plant to bo built in Formosa, has Just been awarded award-ed by the Japanese government to a Milw'nukee company, which has its northwest quartors in Seattle. The Japanese government has decided de-cided to adopt the Pacific northwest system of logging and lumber 8aw-ing, 8aw-ing, notwithstanding that for fifteen yearB It had been experimenting with German methods. Tho Formosa forests remain Intact. In-tact. The lumber Is said to be suf-i suf-i ficlent to last for many years. Tho I timber was not discovered until about ten years ago, following acquisition acqui-sition of tho island by the Japanese during the war with China. The plant will be located at Kogl. oo |
