Show APPROVE THE CEMETERY CONTRACT The contract recently entered into between Commissioner J. C. Nyo for the city and the Brown Iron &. Brass Works company for the erection of the iron gates at the entrance of the' cemetery on Jefferson nvenue was ratified by the clt board of commissioners com-missioners at the regular meeting of i the hoard last evening. The amount Involved wns $225. Mr. Nye stated that he was not quite sure whether he acted under the law in making a contract for tho erection of the proposed gates, for he had not brought tho mattor beforo the board and he had not advertised for bids on the job. Ho dosirod, however how-ever to get tho improvement made by Decoration day and the delay following follow-ing the usual plan of getting bids would have prevented it. Commissioners Commis-sioners Fell and Browning decided that Mr. Nye had proceeded properly and the city attorney stated that it was not necessary in such Improvement Improve-ment to advertise for bids. O'Neill Construction company was the lowest bidder for tho placing of concrete crosswalks In certain parts of the city, and he recommended that the contract bo awarded to the company. com-pany. Hereafter the engineer will bo required to present all bids for work of that kind to the commission beforo final action is taken. The engineer reported that the lights for the city last month cost $1,045, less $62.55 outage. A letter was received from Logan City, cxpiesslng thanks for the efforts mado by the Ogden City llro department depart-ment to reach the Temple city a few days ago when it wns threatened with a disastrous flro The letter was referred re-ferred to Commissioner A G Fell for consideration The mayor stated that he would answer the letter and advise the Logan council that Ogden was pleased to lend assistance, and that there would bo no charges for what had been done.
