Show PLAYGROUND IN ONE OF THEPARKS At a meeting of the city park commissioners com-missioners this morning at Liberty park, it was decided to use the park as a playground for children and the work of placing theequipment In the park will be taken up this afternoon by Superintendent Van dcr Schuit. The entire paik will not be used for that purpose, Ibut that on the north side of the diagonal driveway will he practically all used. AW.UIHM nected with the plan of making playgrounds, play-grounds, It was concluded that It would be better to have all the apparatus ap-paratus In one place. Liberty park Is better shaded than Lester park and It therefore decided it Is a more suitable place for the children to play. Tho park Is situated between Madlsonfand Monroe avenues aven-ues and Twenty-first and Twenty-second streets. The playgrounds equipment consists con-sists of svings, teeters, a small mer-ry-go round, slides, giant strides and other things used In such places. The equipment arrived In the city yesterday yester-day and will be transferred from tho depot to the park this afternoon The cost of tbe paraphernalia Is In the neighborhood of $700 (Mr Van der Schuitt Bays that the playgrounds will be separated from the balance of the park by a fence nnd that strict regulations will be enforced en-forced regarding the use of the grounds. This will be done chiefly to prevent adults- from using tho play dovices or keeping the children from them. The commissioners say that the equipment is first class. |
