Show SPANISH Wi m OUTING In conjunction with the Salt Lake Camps, Ogden Camp,! No 2. U. S. W. V will hold a grand annhersary picnic pic-nic shorth in the cit . It will be held In honor of the thirteenth anniversary anniver-sary of the Battle of Manila, when the famous old Spanish city fell before be-fore .the onslaughts of the American troops under the Joint command of Admiral Dewey and Major-General "Wesley Merritt. Many of the soldiers sol-diers who partook in the historic fight are residents of Utah. The famous fifteenth Infantry, U. S. A. band will furnish the music at the grand ball and the entire garrison at Fort Douglas will partake In the celebration as well as members of tho U. S. W. V. Camps of Salt Lake City. The proceeds of tho ball will be used towards sending to the National Encampment of the United Spanish War Veterans which is to be held somotime this month at Oklahoma City, a delegate from Ogden. Detective Detect-ive George Wardlaw of the Ogden police department has been chosen as the representative who will bo sent In th ftnnrimriinent. fit whlrOi will hr gathered the most prominent men of the United States. "Mr. Wardlaw will be an "Ogden booster" and will take with him literature and other data relative to the state and this city in particular. This he will fiee-ly fiee-ly distribute among the thousands gathered from all parts of the nation and Us territories. |
