When the fed- eral court resumed its session today , the grand Jury returned Indictments against Gilbert B Perkins of Pittsburg Pitts-burg and Charles Franklin of Philadelphia, Phila-delphia, private detecthes charging them with using the mails to defraud Immediately the indictments were re-ce re-ce yed by the court the case was called for trial. The indictment charges that the defendants on February Feb-ruary 13, 1911, actually mailed In Erie a blackhand letter addressed to !Urs Strong, demanding $50,000 and that February 19, 19n, thov mailed a second sec-ond letter. Charles H Strong told of tho desecration of the masoleum or the late Congressman W L Scott, his father-in-law, and tho subsequent cm-I cm-I ployment of Perkins -and his men to ; run down the ghouls.
