Show HEAVY FINE AGAINST MONSON Daniel Munson was fined $10 or ten dpys, his son O. Munson $50 or fifty days and Jud Folker $10 or ten days in police court this morning, for fighting on a Washington avenue street car. The heavy lino was imposed im-posed upon the young Munson because be-cause it was brought out in the trial that he had been the instigator of the trouble; The trial was vigorously prosecuted by the Ogden' Rapid Transfer company com-pany which has avowed Its intention to stop brawls and rowdyism on local street cars. In the present instance it was shown that several women passengers pas-sengers were struck by the misdirected misdirect-ed blows of the combatants and that language of tho vilest kind was indulged indulg-ed In by tho disturbers, without regard to the presence of lady passengers, j William Yerger, who had boarded I the car with his wife, was tho victim I of the assault made by tho two Mun-I Mun-I son3. Yerger, who was the principal witness for the city, stated that while the fight was In progress the conductor conduc-tor made an efTort to stop tho car and that tho elder Munson seized Uie I bell cord and signaled the car to go ahead. Folker, according to the witnesses, wit-nesses, was drunk, and while he entered en-tered tho car with the Munson's took little actlvo part In the melee except ex-cept to Intrude his right eye in the waj' of one of the blows aimed at either ono of the Munsons or at Yerger. Yer-ger. Tho fight occurred about 12:10 on the morning of February 19, while tho I Washington avenue car was going north. Tho fighting began while the I car was nearlng Twenty-first street i and continued for several blooks. Yer-I Yer-I ger left tho car with his wife near I his home and, as he alighted from tho car, he was struck by the elder I Munson, who had followed him, and j felled to the ground. Several of the I witnesses swore that as soon as Yer- ger was knocked down, the younger Munson leaped upon him and proceeded proceed-ed to pummel him untJl others who had left tho car dragged him away. . rr |
