NEWTON Wayne Johnson from Magna who has been drafted into the Army, spent Thursday afternoon after-noon at Newton, calling on his boyhood friends and taking pictures pic-tures of his home and some of the neighbors to take with him as a reminder of days gone by. He reported at Ft. Douglas, Saturday morning. Clarke Griffin, who has been attending at-tending school at Berkeley, Calif., has received notice to report at the Presidio, for examination, preparatory pre-paratory to entering the services. He spent a day of last week visiting visit-ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Griffin and other relatives of Newton and his wife and small son at the home of her parents e.1 Logan. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Lundstrom of Logan brought their daughter, Mrs. Clarke Griffin with her son to Newton, Sunday, where it was blessed in Fast meeting and given the name of Douglas. Miss Mable Olsen and the two daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Lundstrom, Helen and Lucile, accompanied them. They were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Griffin. The following mothers from here who have children graduating from the Junior high school at Smithfield this spring attended the Mothers day program and luncheon lunch-eon at the high school building, Friday. Mrs. Iris Nebeker, Nola Jenkins, Gwen Salisbury, Zenda Andersen and LaVerne Rigby. There has 'been a general moving mov-ing of the young married people of late. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Porter have moved from her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Griffin home, to Smithfield; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Larsen have moved from the Gar- |
