Show Buy Coal Now Is Advice Given Utahns If you are going to use coal next winter buy it now! That is the warning of Lawrence A. Johnson, State Director of the Consumers' Division of the Utah State Council of Defense. It isn't a sales campaign, cam-paign, it isn't a ballyhoo for the coal interests, it is a solemn warning warn-ing by the government that coal users must buy coal during the spring summer and fall or they may have to do without it. There is no shortage of coal There isn't going to be. There is enough coal underground in Utah to supply the entire nation as long as the war can last. But, getting it from the mine to the consumer is a different problem, according to Mr. Johnson. Rail facilities fa-cilities are being taxed by the shipment of war supplies, and the peak will be reached next fall and winter. Railroads must go first to the army and then to the public. , "It is absolutely necessary, however, how-ever, for citizens to buy and store coal now," Mr. Johnson declared; "otherwise it may not be available. Buy it from whom you want or where you want, but be sure to Set it so you will not suffer next Jail and winter." This is the only commodity the government has urged the public to hoard. Buy only what you will need, but buy it now. Advantages of Immediate purchase pur-chase are: (1) Rail transportation will be taxed in the fall and winter, and even if the public suffers nothing "will be given precedence over war supplies for our armed forces. 2) Supplies of trucks, tires, gasoline gas-oline and Diesel Oil are becoming wore and more scarce. Less coal be moved over the highways. (3) Coal prices now are as cheap as they will be in the fali (4) Spread of coal purchases over 'the entire will allow fewer miners steadier work and will release those only used in "peak" mining rr other important war industry duties.
