Annual Fat Stock Expose "Although the number of entries en-tries was smaller than for some of the previous shows, this has been the best junior fat stock show yet held," aserted David Sharp, Jr. manager of the Fifth Annual intermountain Junior Fat Stock Show, at the conclusion of the event staged at the North Sal Lake Union sockyards, June 3, 4, and 5. ' Entries at this year's show totalled to-talled 331 cattle, 219 lambs and 135 hogs. Three hundred twenty exhibitors from FFA chapters and 4-H clubs in Utah, Idaho, and i special awards as well is show ring honors. Winners were: Maurine Colfo 4-H of Singurd, and Duane Nie sen of Salina, in hog division-Watt division-Watt Prather, 4-H of Goafe Idaho, and Dorius Nielsen, ffa Richfield, in lamb division; an' Roy Taylor, of American FalC Idaho, 4-H member; and Bov Olson, FFA of Moore, in the ca" lie division. Honors for the best ho7"i,7j show went to Duane Nielsen k the FFA division and Watt Prath ed in 4-H. Similiar lamb hoi;, ors were apportioned to DeLone Summers, 4-H girl of Tremontoa, and Dorius Nielson. The b-FFA b-FFA baby beef title was giva to Norman Winterton of Wood, land. Four-H club boys from Meq county, Colorado won the exhl bition of groups' of five head 0( cattle from any one county shown irespective of class of divisioa They also won fiirst place in the 4-H uniform contest, while Nor h Emery FFA .chapter won the uniform honors in their division. The Intermountain Junior Fat Stock show is sponsored by the Salt Lake Davis commissions and the Salt Lake City chamber of commerce. As a prelude to the official opening op-ening of the show, exhibitors ga-there ga-there in the arena the evening of June 2, where they elected their "Show Town" officers. Mayorality recognition went to Earl Miller, FFA from Manti, Barbara Wiser of Lewiston, was chosen secretary; And Nedra Summers of Tremon-ton, Tremon-ton, was elected reporter. Mayor Miller chose as his enforcement squad Howard Ilk. 4-H club member mem-ber of Mesa county Colorado chief; and for officers, Boyd Ol-sen, Ol-sen, FFA of Moore, Hughes William, Wil-liam, FFA of Milford, Harry Colby, Col-by, FFA of Sigurd, and Mont Vester, 4-H of Spry. Formal opening of the show was at 9 a.m. June 13. There Earl J. Glade representing the Salt Laake City chamber of commerce, admonished the young exhibitors to "always keep your names in as good condition as your stock that you have brought to this show." Present at the opening were members of the Utah Legislature, Legis-lature, Salt Lake and Davis county coun-ty commissioners, representees of the Salt Lake chamber of commerce, com-merce, and other leading state and civic officials.
