Show AIR POWER The Science of war changes with every new conflict. con-flict. The great change of the present war is the tremendous tre-mendous power which airplane fighting has developed. It used to be said that sea power ruled the world. England has had supreme sea power, yet Germany has conquored or reduced to subjection most of Europe, and without having any great sea power, except its submarines. Those fighting and bombing airplanes have rolled over Europe like an avalanch sliding down a mountain, and crushing out whatever lay in its path. Many prophets have said that this war would be decided de-cided mainly in the air. British sea power has obstructed ob-structed Germany's ability to get war materials and food from outside Europe, but German air power has crushed Europe, and given it control of all the resources re-sources of that continent, so that Britain's sea power has been partly ineffective. The lesson for America is to build up a mighty force of airplanes that can be sent to help any country that resists the Nazi menace. . L iS, |
