The lattsr was Insured far 400 and the stock of merchandise for $6,000, leaving the merchants a total loss of $5000, less about $200 worth of goods which were saved. The fire was discovered by John Ferguson, Fer-guson, who immediately gave the alarm but as Sandy is only supplied with a bucket brigade and some little time had elapsed before the boys could be aroused, ths fire had gained suth headway head-way that it was impossible to stop It. Messrs. Rideout & Crapo's establishment establish-ment .,s one of the most complete in the little city, ani the loss not only crippled them, but is a serions blow to the business interests of Sandy. The Ere was started on the outside of the store at tho southwest corner, and was supposed to be of incendiary origin, although no clew to the perpetrator perpe-trator has as yet been dlscoveded.
