Mr. Mason presided. The bjard was represented by Messrs. Empr-y, Boa-e. Bdciborger, Farr, Peters, Taom -.e, Dr. P;ir ami G. Pyper. A communication was presented from J. A. Ucisv, chairman, and P. J. Jlorau of the City Council, and Chief A. Stan'.on. stating that the City Council had decided to eivet a lire engioe honse in the northeastern, southwestern and southeastern portions of the city, and the fire committee and the chief ot the I department, in looking for a suitable I location regarded favorably the southwestern south-western corner of the block occupied by ti e society, which was the Tenth Ward 6qmre. Dr. Park has just finisned a trip through Cache, Box Eider, Weber, Salt Lake, (Jiah, Juab, Morgan and Summi: counties in the interest of the educa lional department. He received encouragement en-couragement all along the lino and will receive exhibits from the New West Academy, connty schools, Military Academy, Acad-emy, Miss Earl's . kindergarten, and Stake Academy of Weber connty; the Agricultural College and county sohoolj of Cache; probably one from VVillard in Box Eider; Proctor's Academy, B. Y. Academy and connty schools of Juab; Paik City Superintendent Charles Short, with a special line of rnlflsfalBX!it?rrs and also from the following schools in Sclt lake county; L. D. S. College, Professor Pro-fessor Millspangh with city schools, Rowland Hall, University of Utah, Hammond Ham-mond Hall, Collegiate Institute and Eighteenth Ward Seminary. The doctor will occupy the south wing of the building, except the end used fov restaurant purposes, and will flil U chuck fall. was favorably discussed, and was finally referred to the executive committee with instructions to report at the next meeting. The applications of several exhibitors to sell goods at the fair was denied, it b:'ir,g the sense of the meeting that this should be discouraged. The air hailcon privilege was referred to ihe secretary. The secretary reported that he had made a contract for the appearance of Prof- Jo:n Leonard in one sensational balloon ascension and a parachute drop to take place 'A ednesday, October 5th at 3:30 o'clock p. in. Approved. 1 ilr. fyper suggested that an effort be made to secure two or three buffalo from Mr. Glasmacn, as this was a race ofjani-mals ofjani-mals which would soon be extinct and that many people wonld like to see them; that such an exhibit wonld be educational ed-ucational in it's character and an ln'er-estlog ln'er-estlog feature. The suggestion met the approvr.1 of the board and the secretary was authorised to arrange if possible for ouch an exhibit. On motion of Mr. Bamberger the premiums in the women's department now named at fl were raised to $2, so that an exhibitor who has only one article arti-cle in the fa'r and gets the premium can get his or her money back, as well as reeeive admission to the fair. Messrs. Mason and Bamberger, to whom was referred tha matter of the medals, reported the bids of several jewelers jew-elers and recimmended that same to let to Joslin & Park.
